# Share a chat

A sharing link makes a chat accessible to people who have the link. Review the visible conversation and selected projects before sharing.

## Create a share

1. Open **Chat history** and the **three-dot menu** on the chat.
2. Select **Share**.
3. Click **Create sharing link**.
4. Set permissions and copy the link.

```{include} ../_includes/ui-share.md
```

The view shows the dialog after a link has been created, using an example address. In the app, **QR code** opens the corresponding code; **Open chat** opens the shared chat in a new tab.

## Set permissions

| Switch | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| **Allow writing** | Guests can send messages and receive responses. When off, the chat remains readable. |
| **Use projects** | Guest responses may use knowledge from the projects selected in this chat. The selected projects are listed below. |
| **Guest replies for this session only** | New guest questions and responses are not saved in the shared history and disappear on reload. |

**Use projects** controls whether their contents may be used in responses. It does not allow guests to manage project files. Previously visible responses can contain information from earlier sources regardless of this switch.

## Renew the link or stop sharing

**Renew link** replaces the current address. **Stop sharing** ends access through the sharing link. Both actions require confirmation in the dialog; the previous link and its QR code become invalid.

The link grants access to the shared chat. Distribute it to the intended audience accordingly. Ending a share does not recall contents others have already saved.
